Tournament Chairman’s Report

UPCOMING TOURNAMENTS:

October 24 & 25, 2026 Club Championship – Gross & Net Flights [This is a 2-day event for both the gross and the net.]

GROSS: For very low handicap golfers (index of 5.4 and below this year, per the SCGA website), this is now just a 2-day (not 3-day) tournament, on Saturday the 24th and Sunday the 25th. [NOTE that on the 25th, we will plan to re-pair the groups so that the 4 leaders from Day 1 will play together on Day 2.] In the event of a tie, the winner will be determined by a hole-by-hole sudden-death playoff, with the first hole determined by the pro shop based on availability. [REMINDER: in order to play in this Gross Flight Club Championship, you must have played in at least 3 prior RHMC tournaments from January-September.]

The winner will represent RHMC in the SCGA Tournament of Club Champions on November 30, 2026, at Black Gold GC in Yorba Linda (entry fee to be paid by the winner but then reimbursed by RHMC).

SENIORS-GROSS: The Men’s Club also sponsors a senior member to represent Rio Hondo in the SCGA Senior Tournament of Club Champions, also on November 30, at Soboba Springs GC in San Jacinto. To qualify for this, you must be 55 years of age by November 30, 2026, and play in our Gross flight event over the same 2 days. In order for the Club to sponsor the winner for this event, there must be a minimum of 4 senior participants. Your index cannot be higher than 9.4 at the time of registration with the SCGA. The Senior competition is embedded within our Club Championship tournament (there is no separate payout for those who are also trying to qualify for the Senior SCGA tournament).

NET: Those of us with higher handicaps can all play in the Net Flight(s) (with handicap applied) on Saturday the 24th and Sunday the 25th. Each Flight winner will be eligible to play in the SCGA Tournament of Club Champions (Net Division) at one of two courses in the Palm Desert area on Nov. 30, 2026 (Palm Valley CC or Monterey CC).

THE PRO SHOP ONLY PROVIDES A LIMITED NUMBER OF TEE TIME SLOTS FOR THIS TOURNAMENT, WHICH WILL BE ACCEPTED ON A FIRST-COME, FIRST-SERVED BASIS, SO PLEASE ENTER/SUBMIT EARLY.

November 21, 2026: Individual Ball, Stableford Scoring – This is the last Men’s Club event of

the year (the December tournament is handled 100% by the Pro Shop).
