Tournament Chairman’s Report

Club Championship on October 25-26

We had our maximum allotted capacity of 64 sign up (19 gross and seniors gross, and 45 net), and 63 who actually played at least one day (one had to withdraw right before the tournament due to injury, and another 3 dropped out due to injury or illness after beginning play on Saturday). Congratulations to the winners: Jimmy Shull (gross); Refugio Saldana (seniors gross, as well as second place in the gross), Raul Serrano (Net Flight A), and Guy DeLong (Net Flight B). Players who finished top 5 in Gross, top 4 in Seniors Gross, and top 9 in each of Net Flights A & B receive payouts in Pro Shop scrip.

Upcoming Events

November 22: Four-Man, 2-Best Ball

Record all gross scores and then count the two lowest scores, gross and net, on each hole. If a player is out of the hole at any point, he is encouraged to pick up to help improve the pace of play. However, each player is still required to post a gross score for every hole. Per SCGA guidelines, you are to record the score you most likely would have achieved had you completed the hole. [The entry deadline is Wednesday, November 19th, at 11 a.m. Please enter as early as possible for preferred tee times.]

NOTE: November is RHMC’s last official Men’s Club Tournament for 2025. The December tournament is a Pro Shop-sponsored event that will take place on December 20, 2025.  

We had a full slate of great tournaments this year. I want to personally thank the Rio Hondo Men’s Club Board, the Pro Shop staff, the golf course personnel, and our membership for their support and flexibility throughout the year. Participation in the tournaments was very good, but it can be even better next year. I encourage you all to invite your friends to join the Men’s Club… maybe through the 90-day free trial membership offered by SCGA, or perhaps by inviting them to the Member/Guest in June to try RH out.
